/Midnight University Blazer with Hanbok Lining
Limited Edition: 10 left. Large available for pre-order only with 3 week lead-time.
Designer’s Notes
Inspired by the Asian University uniform blazer. The University patch features an embroidered Uniformed logo in Hangul and a blue rose taken from a family heirloom screen. The heirloom was bestowed by the grandmother as a wedding gift to her parents and then shipped from Korea to the States in the 1970s. The blues in the rose symbolize Obangsaek (오방색) Blue, one of the five traditional Korean colors representing youth, immortality, creativity, loyalty and blue skies.
The blazer’s sleeves are lined in Korean Hanbok fabric, which is typically used for traditional Korean dress. The Hanbok was woven by artisans near Busan, South Korea, in one of the few remaining mills that still weave this traditional fabric.
Blazer pattern drafted by a traditional suiting pattern maker from NYC’s Garment District. All details & interlinings consist of old school men’s suiting.
Limited Edition items are limited to 10 produced in the same fabric lot. Includes special limited edition label marked with its unique number sold.
